Lena Michailidou

Aline Koch

"I applied for the ViroiDoc open call because I am particularly interested in the group’s focus on RNA-mediated pathways and host-viroid interactions at the molecular level. I am eager to join this international network and contribute to advancing our understanding of viroid biology through innovative research. This doctoral project represents an excellent opportunity to deepen my expertise in advanced molecular and imaging techniques and to grow as an independent researcher within a dynamic, international scientific community. "

Lena is ViroiDoc MSCA fellow in Greece (DC9) at the University of Crete (UoC).

Individual Research Projects (IRP):
How disrupting host factors suppresses viroid infectivity

Develop tools that enable the visualisation of viroids and viroid movement in planta. Investigate the effects of impairing or knocking down specific host proteins involved in viroid replication and movement on PSTVd infection of N. benthamiana plants, viroid titer and disease progression. Identify proteins whose suppression blocks viroid infection or progression within the plant.
