The Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) – Instituto de Biología Celular y Molecular de Plantas (IBMCP) brings extensive expertise in plant–pathogen interactions, with a particular focus on plant viruses and viroids.

The IBMCP team studies the molecular mechanisms underlying plant–virus and plant–viroid interactions to develop innovative strategies for crop protection. The team also exploits the unique biological properties of viruses and viroids as biotechnological tools, including for the production of recombinant proteins, nanoparticles, metabolites and recombinant RNAs in engineered plant-based biofactories.

Within the ViroiDoc project, CSIC–IBMCP contributes its expertise in plant virology, pathogen–host interactions and the development of virus- and viroid-based biotechnological applications.
