ViroiDoc boosts research skills with R Programming training

In July 2026, ViroiDoc organised a hybrid training on R Programming and Data Manipulation, strengthening researchers’ transferable skills in data analysis.

As part of its transferable skills training activities, ViroiDoc supported the organisation of a dedicated lectures on R Programming and Data Manipulation, held in July 2026 and organised by the Medical Faculty of the University of Ljubljana in cooperation with ViroiDoc.

The training was delivered in a hybrid format (at the Biotechnical Faculty of the University of Ljubljana and online), enabling broad participation and providing researchers, including ViroiDoc MSCA Fellows, with the opportunity to develop essential computational skills for data-driven research. The course aimed to enhance participants’ proficiency in R programming and provide hands-on experience in integrating different R packages for efficient data analysis and visualisation.

By strengthening participants’ abilities in data manipulation, statistical programming, and data interpretation, the training contributed to the development of transferable skills that are increasingly important across biomedical and life sciences research.

The lecture was delivered by Lan Gerdej, M.Sc. in Applied Statistics, researcher and assistant professor at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ljubljana, where he specialises in biostatistics and biomedical informatics. His expertise provided participants with valuable insights into the practical application of R-based approaches for biomedical data analysis.

Through dedicated training activities such as this, ViroiDoc continues to promote researcher development, knowledge exchange, and the acquisition of transferable skills that support scientific excellence and innovation within the project and the broader research community.

Next training opportunity

From 7 to 9 September 2026, ViroiDoc will continue its series of transferable skills training sessions on linear mixed models (LMMs).

• Participants will develop practical skills in LMMs, with a focus on analysing complex and structured datasets. They will learn how to prepare data, apply linear and mixed-effects models, and confidently interpret results for real-world research applications.
