ViroiDoc is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Network dedicated to understanding how viroids cause disease and to developing novel methods for their early detection and control. By combining expertise from molecular biology, bioinformatics, plant pathology, and biotechnology, ViroiDoc aims to protect crops, secure food production, and train a new generation of plant health innovators.

What are viroids?
Viroids are small single-stranded, circular RNAs that are infectious pathogens. Viroids are considered remnants of a primitive RNA world and some members of the Avsunviroidae family contain ribozymes. Viroids cause crop losses in the millions of euros every year and affect crop yields and quality worldwide.
